Several citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who were on the international wanted list have been detained in various foreign countries. The operations were carried out through the coordinated efforts of law enforcement agencies and Interpol.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Press Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported that Alagha Ismayilov, who was wanted by the Surakhani District Police Department, was detained in Ukraine. Elmir Nuriyev, sought by the Sumgait City Police Department, was apprehended in Germany. Furthermore, Muraz Gurbanov, who was wanted by the Binagadi District Police Department in connection with criminal cases involving fraud, was located and detained in the United Arab Emirates.
The Interpol National Central Bureau of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is currently working in coordination with relevant international authorities to facilitate the extradition of these individuals to Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan maintains a robust partnership with Interpol to track and repatriate individuals fleeing justice, ensuring that those accused of crimes face legal accountability within the country. This cooperation is a key component of the Ministry of Internal Affairs' strategy to combat transnational crime and strengthen judicial ties with foreign partners.
