Azerbaijan's consul in the Iranian city of Tabriz has died in a tragic car accident.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan (MFA) shared the news on its official X account.
"We are deeply saddened by the news of the death of our esteemed diplomatic colleague, Ramil Rza oglu Imranov, who served as the consul of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Tabriz, Islamic Republic of Iran. He passed away in a car accident on the Julfa-Tabriz highway near the town of Marand while performing his official duties," the MFA statement said.
The Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Tabriz plays a vital role in maintaining diplomatic relations and providing consular services in northwestern Iran. Azerbaijani diplomatic missions in the region continue to facilitate official communication, bilateral ties, and support for citizens traveling between the two neighboring countries.
