Admission to vocational education institutions has officially commenced in Azerbaijan.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Ilgar Bayramli, Director of the State Agency for Vocational Education, announced the details during a briefing regarding student admissions and newly introduced specializations.
Bayramli stated that during the first stage of the admission process, applicants must create a personal account on the portal.edu.az platform and complete their registration by August 10, allowing them to select up to five specializations.
"The results of the admission process will be announced on August 14–15 via personal accounts and SMS notifications. Registration for admitted students at vocational education institutions will take place from August 16 to 25. During this stage, students must submit their documents to the respective educational institutions," Bayramli noted.
The agency head further highlighted that starting this year, vocational schools will introduce five new specializations tailored to the needs of the labor market: geodesy and cartography, procurement organization, food processing technologies, greenhouse operator, and bread baking. Currently, 44% of the admission plan (14,580 spots) covers economics, services, and information technology sectors. Popular specializations include chef, barber-visagist-manicurist, tailor, electrician, accountant, welder, computer repair technician, graphic designer, automotive mechanic, and plant cultivation specialist.
Bayramli emphasized that 66% of the admission plan is allocated to vocational institutions in the regions, while 34% is designated for Baku. He also provided an update on infrastructure development, noting that reconstruction and major repairs have been completed at four vocational education institutions between 2022 and 2026. Work is ongoing at five other facilities, with design projects underway for seven more. Additionally, 46 new workshops have been established, and 1,000 dormitory beds are available across eight vocational institutions.
Vocational education in Azerbaijan has undergone significant modernization in recent years, reflecting the government's commitment to aligning educational outcomes with the evolving demands of the national economy and preparing a skilled workforce for the country's industrial and service sectors.
