The 7th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue is attended by 500 foreign guests from 100 countries.
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports that President Ilham Aliyev said this while addressing the opening ceremony of the 7th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue, themed “Dialogue for a Common Future,” in Baku.
The President noted that in recent years the forum had become, in the true sense of the word, an effective and inclusive platform:
“In fact, we discuss urgent issues on the global agenda at the forum. The first forum of this kind was held in 2011 at our initiative. I would like to thank the UN for supporting this initiative.”
The head of state said the forum is held every two years and addresses issues of concern to everyone:
“Azerbaijan has historically been and remains a multicultural country. We are located between Europe and Asia, and for centuries Azerbaijan has served as a cultural bridge between the two. The traditions of multiculturalism, religious tolerance and ethnic tolerance are a heritage passed down by our peoples over centuries, and we value them highly.”
