President Ilham Aliyev said Azerbaijan had succeeded in creating a new situation in the South Caucasus.
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports that President Ilham Aliyev made the remarks at the opening ceremony of the 7th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue in Baku, held under the theme “Dialogue for a common future.” He said Azerbaijan’s economic potential, traditions, multiculturalism and optimism formed a common whole:
“We live in an unpredictable world. It is a world where conflicts begin and do not end. In such circumstances, we must always remain alert to potential risks and protect ourselves from possible challenges.”
The head of state said there had been both negative and positive developments since the previous forum:
“The negative development is that wars are taking place in our neighbourhood. The positive one is that the peace agreement with Armenia has been initialled. This took place at the White House in the presence of U.S. President Donald Trump. A trilateral declaration was then signed. We succeeded in creating a new situation in the South Caucasus. Nothing like this had happened before in the history of an independent South Caucasus country.”
