Authorities seized 82 kilograms of drugs and 6,365 drug-containing pills in Baku, Ganja and Sumgait.
The Interior Ministry told Operative Information Center-OMM that the seizure was made, Operative Information Center-OMM reports.
The ministry said its Main Department for Combating Drugs carried out operations to prevent the illegal circulation of narcotics.
Orkhan Guliyev, Maharram Seyidov, Mirjafar Abushov, Ismayil Mammadov, Muraz Mammadov, Mirza Manafov and Elvin Aliyev were detained in operations in Baku, Ganja and Sumgait.
Officers found a total of 82 kilograms of drugs and 6,365 drug-containing pills. Investigators determined that the detainees had organized the illegal distribution of drugs smuggled into Azerbaijan on instructions from drug traffickers living abroad.
Criminal cases have been opened. A court ordered the suspects held in pretrial detention.
