Nearly 10 kilograms of narcotics have been seized during a specialized operation conducted in the Garadagh district of Baku.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) informed Operative Information Center-OMM that police officers detained Arzuman Ahmadov, a 30-year-old resident of Sumgait with a prior criminal record. During the search, a total of 9 kilograms 986 grams of marijuana was discovered and confiscated from his possession.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Ahmadov had entered into a criminal conspiracy with an Iranian citizen, whose identity is currently being established by investigators. The suspect reportedly planned to distribute and hide the drugs at various locations across the capital. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the fact, and a court order has been issued to place the detainee under pretrial detention.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan continues to intensify its efforts to combat illegal drug trafficking, particularly along the southern borders. These operations are part of a broader national strategy to prevent the transit of narcotics through the country and to dismantle organized criminal networks involved in the distribution of prohibited substances within Azerbaijan.
