Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso has addressed forward Estevão Willian’s limited playing time ahead of the team’s English Premier League match against Manchester United in the ninth round.
Alonso said the season is long and every player in the squad will have a chance. Estevão will feature in matches during the season and get sufficient playing time, he said.
The coach said he was not unhappy with the player’s attitude in training, adding that the issue was related to the circumstances at the start of the season. Alonso said Estevão wanted to adapt to the team, had faced injuries last year and that it was still October.
Asked about the possibility of sending the player out on loan in January, Alonso replied: “There have been no discussions about that.” Football London published his comments.
