Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick has answered a question about whether Bruno Fernandes will remain the team’s captain, saying there will be no change to the player’s role at the club.
Fernandes had earlier openly criticised Carrick and the coaching staff’s tactical decisions following a defeat in a Champions League match.
“He is an important player for this team. He has been and will remain so. We have to work together to change the situation and get everything moving in the right direction. He is fully committed to this football club and is trying to improve everything. So nothing changes,” Carrick said.
The head coach added that Fernandes had led the team well for a long time and across many matches, and would continue to do so. BBC reported Carrick’s remarks.
Manchester United will face Chelsea in the ninth round of the English Premier League on October 31. The match will kick off at 16:30 Baku time.
