Mansoureh Khojasteh Bagherzadeh, the wife of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has passed away in the hospital, Operative Information Center-OMM reports citing Iranian media outlets.
According to official reports, Bagherzadeh had been hospitalized in critical condition after sustaining severe injuries during a recent attack. Despite the extensive efforts of medical professionals, the Supreme Leader's spouse, who had been in a coma, could not be saved.
The death follows a high-profile security breach on Saturday, when an attack was carried out on the Supreme Leader's office in the capital, Tehran. The incident reportedly resulted in the deaths of several family members, including Ali Khamenei himself. This event marks a significant escalation in the internal security situation in Iran, which has faced increasing domestic and international pressures in recent years.
