Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk voiced his frustration with the refereeing decisions after his side lost 1-0 to Arsenal in the ninth round of the English Premier League.
“I’m disappointed. We were playing at home and had chances to score. We tried to do everything we could. In the final 15 minutes, we should have played a little better to get the ball into the penalty area more often. We couldn’t do that today, so I’m disappointed,” van Dijk said on Sky Sports.
He said his team played better after conceding and that Alexis could have changed the course of the match.
Commenting on the decision not to award a penalty in the Isak incident, van Dijk said he disagreed with the call: “I think it was a clear penalty. I watched the replay, and I’ve seen penalties given in incidents like that. That didn’t happen today. We have 50 cameras around us. With that many cameras, what does he need to complain about? Everyone saw everything. In the end, no penalty was given and, unfortunately, we lost the match. Credit to Arsenal.”
Van Dijk said a new person had started working at the club and that it would take time to adapt to the changes: “I’m sure everything will fall into place and work out.”
