In the final match of the round, Coventry, managed by Frank Lampard, beat Newcastle 4-1. Aston Villa and Brentford drew 2-2, while Manchester United and Tottenham drew 1-1.
The other sixth-round results were: Sunderland 0-2 Brighton, Ipswich 2-1 Fulham, Crystal Palace 3-1 Nottingham Forest, Hull City 2-2 Everton.
