Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has submitted draft laws to the Verkhovna Rada proposing a further 90-day extension of martial law and general mobilization in the country.

The relevant documents have been published on the official website of Ukraine’s parliament, Operative Information Center-OMM reports.

The draft laws will first be discussed by the relevant parliamentary committee before being put to a vote by lawmakers.

Martial law and general mobilization were introduced in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, after Russia launched military operations. The proposed decision would mark the 21st extension of the two measures. Parliamentary, presidential and local elections have not been held in Ukraine amid the repeated extensions of martial law and general mobilization.

Zelensky’s term as president ended on May 20, 2024.
