Israeli authorities have resumed submitting lists of Palestinian prisoners held in the West Bank and Gaza Strip to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
Reuters reported the development, citing the ICRC, Operative Information Center-OMM reports.
The ICRC press service confirmed that it had received the lists.
However, the organization said visits to people held in prisons have not yet resumed.
The committee’s leadership hopes prison visits will restart in the near future.
Israel’s government stopped providing the committee with prisoner lists after Hamas’s attacks on Oct. 7, 2023, and the start of military operations in the Gaza Strip. Earlier this year, Israel’s Supreme Court ordered the government to resume providing the lists and to allow ICRC representatives to enter prisons to assess the detention conditions of Palestinian prisoners.
