Two high-speed trains collided in Spain on Wednesday, prompting the suspension of the line connecting Madrid with the southern region of Andalusia, rail operator “Adif” said, according to CNN.
“Adif” said in a post on “X” that traffic on the Madrid-Andalusia high-speed rail line had been suspended after a rear-end collision between two trains.
Spanish newspaper “El País” cited witnesses describing numerous injuries and the arrival of emergency medical teams at the scene. The report also said two rail cars involved in the crash had reportedly left the tracks and fallen down an embankment.
According to “El País”, the accident happened shortly after 9 a.m. local time between the towns of Los Yébenes and Urda, in Toledo province.
