Türkiye, Qatar, Indonesia and Pakistan have signed a memorandum aimed at strengthening defense cooperation and developing strategic partnerships, Türkiye’s National Defense Ministry said Wednesday, according to Anadolu Agency.

The agreement, named “Badr,” was signed in Doha by the defense ministers of the four countries. Its signatories were Turkish National Defense Minister Yasar Guler, Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Hasan Al Thani, Indonesian Deputy Defense Minister Yusuf Jauhari and Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif.

Haluk Gorgun, head of Türkiye’s Presidency of Defense Industries, also attended the signing ceremony.

The ministry said the memorandum, whose name means “full moon,” is intended to promote cooperation in military production, strengthen military capabilities and support collaboration in technical military training, research and development.

The initiative is also intended to help develop solutions and industrial sectors in line with advances in modern defense systems, the ministry said.

It added that the agreement has economic significance for the signatories, as it combines their military production capabilities, improves integration and strengthens their defense industries to meet the needs of allied and friendly countries.

The memorandum is also expected to expand military cooperation among the participants, deepen defense industry ties and strengthen multilateral collaboration in support of security, stability and shared objectives, the ministry said.
