Sabah president Maqsud Adigözalov has spoken about the team’s defender Tymoteusz Puchacz in an interview with Polish media. The club chief praised the 27-year-old’s professionalism and conduct.
Adigözalov said he observes players not only during matches but also at training sessions, in the gym and in their free time. He added that their interactions with teammates and attitude to their work are also important.
“Timoteusz is a fantastic footballer and a very pleasant young man. But above all, I would call him a true professional. In this respect, Timoteusz has made a very strong impression on me. I can say with confidence that he is a professional in every sense of the word,” Adigözalov said.
An intriguing detail behind Puchacz’s transfer
The club president said Puchacz had been very close to signing a contract with Polish club GKS Katowice before joining Sabah. Adigözalov said some events in football are difficult to explain through logic alone.
“As far as I know, in Polish, ‘Puchacz’ is the name of a type of owl. The owl is Sabah’s symbol. So there is also something a little mystical about this transfer. Perhaps it was meant to be for Tymoteusz to join our team,” the club president said.
Puchacz joined Sabah in 2025. He has won the Azerbaijani championship and the national cup with the Baku club, and has also reached the main stage of the UEFA Champions League.
