Russia plans to send its first diesel fuel shipment to the United States on October 22.
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports that Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak made the remarks.
Novak said the first tanker, with a capacity of 40,000 tons, would leave for the United States on October 22. Further fuel shipments are also planned.
The deputy prime minister said the relevant contract was in its final stages of preparation.
He added that fuel supplies to other countries would depend on how much Russia could export beyond the volume needed to meet current US demand.
“I think diesel fuel will also be supplied to other countries. We are restoring exports within the capacity of our refineries, but not yet at their previous full volume. That is why we may return to previous export levels only toward the end of the year. After that, other countries may receive fuel in the volumes they previously obtained,” Novak said.
Following a phone conversation between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, Washington eased sanctions on diesel fuel supplies from Russia.
Moscow is expected to export about 1.8 million tons of diesel fuel in several stages.
