Ukrainian forward Oleksiy Kashchuk of Aghdam’s Qarabag FK has received his first call-up to Ukraine’s senior national team. Head coach Andrea Maldere included him in the 25-man squad announced for the final UEFA Nations League group-stage matches.
Kashchuk has scored four goals in nine Azerbaijan Premier League appearances this season, making him Qarabag FK’s top scorer in the league. Across all competitions, he has five goals and one assist.
Ukrainian media have previously highlighted Kashchuk’s performances for Qarabag FK, writing that he deserved a national-team call-up. They said he could strengthen the team’s attack on the right flank.
Kashchuk has previously played for Ukraine’s under-17, under-19, under-20, under-21 and under-23 teams. He won the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup with Ukraine, appearing in all seven of the team’s matches at the tournament. In 2023, he helped the under-21 side reach the European Championship semi-finals, scoring and providing an assist in a 2-0 win over Croatia.
Kashchuk last played for Ukraine’s Olympic team in a friendly against Japan in March 2024. Ukraine lost the match 2-0. He has yet to make his senior national-team debut.
Ukraine will visit Northern Ireland on November 14 and face Georgia on November 17.
