A suspect involved in a pickpocketing incident at one of the metro stations has been detained on March 4.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) released information regarding the incident.

According to the statement, a woman filed a police report claiming that her wallet, containing documents and bank cards, along with her mobile phone, were stolen from her bag while she was traveling on a train. Following operational measures conducted by officers of the Police Department in the Metropolitan, 39-year-old E. Qasimov was identified and detained as a suspect. An investigation into the matter is currently underway.

The Baku Metro, which serves as the primary underground transportation system in the capital of Azerbaijan, maintains a dedicated police department to ensure the safety of its passengers. Security measures, including extensive surveillance camera networks and regular patrols by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, are implemented across all stations and trains to prevent criminal activities such as theft and pickpocketing in high-traffic public transport areas.
