Azerbaijani MMA fighter Mahammadali Osmanli will compete on December 5 at the UFC Fight Night event in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. His opponent will be Moldova’s Pavel Andruska. The bout is scheduled for the UFC flyweight division.
Osmanli, 22, has won 12 of his 14 professional bouts and lost two. Andruska, 24, has won all nine of his bouts. He made his UFC debut in September and defeated experienced fighter Nathaniel Wood by unanimous decision.
Osmanli’s most recent bout
Osmanli’s most recent fight was against Akylbek Uulu in the final of “TUF 34.” The bout, held at the Meta APEX arena in Las Vegas, was part of the UFC Fight Night: Rosas Jr. vs. Barcelos event. At 2:19 of the second round, Osmanli landed a knee strike to his opponent’s head. The Kyrgyz fighter was unable to continue, and Osmanli was disqualified for a rules violation, with the victory awarded to his opponent.
Tensions between Osmanli and Akylbek Uulu had also flared before the final. The two fighters drew attention to their conflict while appearing on the reality show. They were also added to the UFC’s active fighter roster before their final bout.
Alongside Osmanli, five other Azerbaijani fighters currently compete in the UFC: Rafael Fiziev, Nazim Sadykhov, Tofiq Musayev, Farman Hasanov and Tahir Abdullayev.
