The Main State Traffic Police Department has issued an urgent appeal to road users, urging them to exercise heightened caution and responsibility during the upcoming weekend.
As reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Department emphasized that traffic volume is expected to rise significantly across the country's road network, particularly on routes leading from the capital to regional destinations, tourist hotspots, and seaside recreational areas due to the summer season.
The Department warned that increased traffic intensity elevates the risk of road accidents. "Drivers should adjust their speed according to road and weather conditions, ensure they are well-rested before embarking on long journeys, and avoid driving while fatigued or sleep-deprived," the statement noted.
Authorities further advised drivers to maintain safe following distances, refrain from risky overtaking and other dangerous maneuvers, strictly adhere to traffic signs and signals, and verify the technical condition of their vehicles before departure.
"Citizens heading to seaside and other recreational areas, as well as pedestrians, are requested to cross roads only at designated crossings. Pedestrians should avoid using mobile phones or other distractions while crossing. Given the high traffic intensity near beaches and recreation zones, both drivers and pedestrians must demonstrate mutual respect and caution," the appeal concluded.
The Main State Traffic Police Department regularly issues such advisories during peak travel periods, such as summer months and public holidays, as part of its ongoing efforts to reduce traffic fatalities and improve road safety standards across Azerbaijan.
