Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held a telephone conversation with his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan to discuss the current regional situation and the normalization process between the two nations.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Azerbaijan reported that the ministers exchanged views on recent developments in the region. Both parties expressed their concerns and emphasized the importance of avoiding steps that could lead to further escalation, highlighting the necessity of ensuring regional stability and security.

During the conversation, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed his counterpart about the drone attacks carried out against the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of the Republic of Azerbaijan on March 5. The minister noted that these provocations resulted in damage to civilian infrastructure and caused injuries among the civilian population. The ministers further stressed the importance of establishing a sustainable peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan and exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.

The dialogue comes amid ongoing efforts to finalize a peace treaty and delimit the state border between the two South Caucasus nations. Azerbaijan has consistently advocated for a peace agenda based on the principles of international law, territorial integrity, and sovereignty. Nakhchivan, an exclave of Azerbaijan, remains a strategic priority in regional transport and security discussions, particularly regarding the restoration of regional communications.
