Four miners were killed in an explosion at a coal mine in Pakistan’s Harnai city last Sunday.
“Operative Information Center-OMM”, citing the Dawn newspaper, reports that four other miners were seriously injured.
“Eight miners were trapped underground after a fire broke out following the explosion,” Muhammad Atif, chief inspector of mines in Balochistan, told the newspaper.
Rescuers found four miners alive and recovered the bodies of four others.
Mining accidents are a recurring safety concern in Pakistan, particularly in Balochistan, where rescue operations can be complicated by difficult underground conditions and limited access to mine workings.
