A fire has broken out in an open area near the Aghdam-Fuzuli highway, prompting an immediate response from emergency services. The Ministry of Emergency Situations received an alert regarding the incident via its "112" hotline.
The Ministry's press service informed the Operative Information Center-OMM that forces from the State Fire Protection Service were promptly dispatched to the scene to contain the flames.
Operations to extinguish the fire are currently underway; however, the task is significantly complicated by the fact that the area remains heavily mined. This poses a serious safety risk to the firefighting crews, who must navigate the terrain with extreme caution.
The Aghdam and Fuzuli regions, liberated from occupation in 2020, are currently undergoing extensive reconstruction and demining efforts. The presence of unexploded ordnance and landmines remains a persistent challenge for infrastructure development and emergency response operations in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.
Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
