A fire has broken out in an open area in the Khojavand district, prompting an immediate emergency response.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, forces from the State Fire Protection Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations were promptly dispatched to the scene upon receiving reports of the incident.
Operations to extinguish the fire are currently underway. However, authorities have noted that the presence of landmines in the area significantly complicates firefighting efforts, as personnel must navigate hazardous terrain while attempting to contain the spread of the flames.
The Khojavand district, located in the Garabagh region of Azerbaijan, has faced significant challenges regarding post-conflict reconstruction and safety. Following the liberation of these territories, the extensive contamination of landmines and unexploded ordnance remains a critical issue, frequently hindering infrastructure projects, agricultural activities, and emergency response operations in the region.
