The European Union (EU) supports Azerbaijan in the matter of the peace agenda with Armenia, emphasizing the importance of regional stability. According to Operative Information Center-OMM, this statement was made by the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, during a joint press conference with President Ilham Aliyev in Baku.

The EU official highlighted that the progress achieved in the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia is highly commendable. "Peace has a very positive impact on the peoples of both countries. Azerbaijan's role in the regional agenda is also increasing," Costa stated, underlining Baku's growing influence in the South Caucasus and its pivotal role in ensuring energy security for Europe.

The visit comes at a time when Azerbaijan is actively engaged in post-conflict reconstruction and the normalization of diplomatic relations in the region. The European Union has frequently acted as a facilitator in high-level meetings between Baku and Yerevan, seeking to foster a sustainable peace agreement based on the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity. This engagement reflects the EU's strategic interest in the South Caucasus as a vital corridor for trade and energy transit between Asia and Europe.
