A Venezuelan national was arrested near the White House after allegedly threatening to kill US President Donald Trump, Anadolu Agency reported.
The US Department of Homeland Security said Friday that Secret Service officers approached the man on Thursday evening after noticing suspicious behaviour inside a parked car in Washington, DC.
The suspect told officers that voices in his head had instructed him to travel to the capital and kill Trump.
Officers searched the vehicle, which had been reported stolen, and found three firearms: an AR-15-style rifle and two handguns. They also found dozens of rounds of ammunition.
The Department of Homeland Security identified the suspect as Ronny Yordrix Guanipa Chrinos and described him as an illegal immigrant.
