A 67-year-old man in Ucar district was accused of committing indecent acts against a schoolgirl.
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports, citing demokrat.az, that Seyran, born in 1958, picked up Sara, born in 2017, from outside the school in a village in Ucar district in early October 2025, at about 1:15 p.m., on the pretext of taking her home. He seated her in the back of the Opel Astra he was driving, took her near her home and stopped the car on the way.
He then grabbed the young girl by the arm, used force, kissed her on both cheeks and committed acts of a sexual nature against her.
The 67-year-old man allegedly repeated his indecent conduct against the girl on two more occasions in his car, committing further acts of a sexual nature.
Seyran was charged under Article 150.3.3 of the Criminal Code for committing acts of a sexual nature involving violence against a person under 14.
In his statement in the case, Seyran partially admitted guilt to the charge. He said he lived in a village in Ucar district with his wife, Gular, and son, Elchin. He said he owned an Opel Astra and worked as a taxi driver, taking passengers to and from Ucar city.
The defendant said that, during the school year, he had also picked up some villagers’ children from their homes and driven them to school, then returned them to their homes after classes:
“The parents of the children I drove to and from school paid me 20 manats a month for each child. I have known my fellow villager Vafadar’s children since they were young. I have no family ties, disputes or enmity with him. In previous years, I did not drive Vafadar’s children to and from school. They travelled to and from school in another car.”
The defendant said that in early September 2025, Vafadar had come to him and said the person who had been taking his children to school no longer wanted to do so. Vafadar offered to pay him 40 manats a month to drive his son Teymur and daughter Sara to and from school:
“I agreed with Vafadar. On school days, at about 8:50 a.m., I drove to the front of his home and waited. His son Tofiq, who was in fourth grade, and his daughter Sara, who was in third grade, came out and got into my car. I dropped them off outside their school and went home. At 12:50 p.m. that day, I returned to pick them up outside the school and dropped them off in front of their home. Then I went about my personal business.”
Seyran said that in early October 2025, at about 8:50 a.m., he picked up Vafadar’s son and daughter outside their home and dropped them off outside the school:
“That day, at 12:50 p.m., I went to the school to pick them up. A little later, Sara came with other children whose names I cannot remember and got into my car. Since I drove other children to and from school as well, I did not remember which children had got into my car with Sara at the time. I asked Sara where her brother Teymur was. She said he was in class. I drove the other children to their homes and dropped them off. Then I went to the front of Vafadar’s home to drop off Sara as well. As Sara was about to get out, I turned around, reached toward the back seat, took hold of her arm and pulled her toward me, then kissed her on both cheeks. Sara did not understand why I had done that, or why I had kissed her, and left the car in a daze.”
Seyran said that in the following days he continued to drive Sara and her brother Teymur to and from school:
“Because Vafadar did not say anything to me, I understood that Sara had not told her parents that I had kissed her. In mid-October 2025, again at about 8:50 a.m., I picked up both of Saftar’s children outside their home and took them to school. At noon, I went back to pick them up. A little later, Sara came with other children whose names I cannot remember and got into my car. I asked Sara where her brother Teymur was. She said he was in class. After dropping off the other children outside their homes, I drove to Vafadar’s home and stopped the car. I turned around, leaned toward the back seat, took Sara by the arm and kissed her on both cheeks. Sara said nothing and got out of the car. In the following days, because Vafadar again said nothing, I understood that Sara had not told her parents at home that I had kissed her.”
The defendant said that, as usual, the next day at 8:50 a.m. he drove to the front of Vafadar’s home and, after Sara and her brother Teymur got into the car, dropped them off outside the school:
“In the same way, at 12:50 p.m. that day I drove to the school and waited for the children to finish classes. A little later, Sara, Esmira, Raul and other children whose names I do not remember came quickly and got into the car. Teymur arrived a little later and could not get in. I told Teymur and the other children to wait, saying I would return to pick them up after dropping off those already in the car. I then drove Esmira, Raul and the other children whose names I do not remember to their homes and dropped them off.
“Then I decided to stop my car somewhere quiet and kiss Sara again. So that Sara would not become concerned, I told her I would return to the school, pick up her brother Teymur and take them both home. Sara had not got out of the car. At about 1:20 p.m., I drove about 500 to 600 metres away from the area where the homes were and stopped on the Baku-Gazakh highway in the direction of Gazakh district. I got out, opened the right rear door and sat beside Sara in the back seat. I first pulled Sara toward me and hugged her, then kissed her on the face. I then engaged in other intimate acts with her. A few minutes later, I heard a noise and looked up to see two people approaching the car. One of them was filming with a mobile phone. When one of them opened the right rear door, I got out. They asked what I was doing and who the child was. I falsely told them the car had a fault and Sara was my granddaughter.”
Shaki Grave Crimes Court sentenced Seyran to 15 years in prison. He will serve his sentence in a high-security correctional facility.
