President Ilham Aliyev has highly appreciated the role of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in facilitating parliamentary dialogue between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The head of state emphasized the importance of international platforms in fostering direct communication to ensure long-term stability in the South Caucasus.

According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the Azerbaijani leader made these remarks on May 5 during a meeting with IPU Secretary General Martin Chungong. President Ilham Aliyev specifically noted the IPU's contribution to creating a framework for regular meetings between the speakers of the Azerbaijani and Armenian parliaments to discuss the ongoing peace process and the normalization of bilateral relations.

During the reception, the sides also reflected on the significance of high-level diplomatic engagements. The Inter-Parliamentary Union, headquartered in Geneva, serves as a global organization for national parliaments, aiming to promote democratic governance, institutions, and values. In the context of the post-conflict period in the region, Azerbaijan has consistently advocated for a peace agenda based on the principles of international law and territorial integrity, viewing parliamentary diplomacy as a vital component of the broader normalization efforts between Baku and Yerevan.
