Rain is currently falling in Baku, creating hazardous conditions for road users and significantly increasing the risk of traffic accidents.
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports that the Baku City Traffic Police Department issued an appeal to drivers about the rainy weather.
The department said wet and drizzly conditions make road surfaces slippery and reduce visibility, requiring drivers to exercise greater care and responsibility.
“The Baku City Traffic Police Department reiterates that, in such weather, drivers should be especially cautious, reduce their speed, keep a greater-than-usual distance from the vehicle ahead, and ensure that their windshield wipers and lights are in good working order,” the statement said.
It also noted that adverse weather creates additional difficulties for pedestrians:
“In rainy weather, slippery road surfaces and reduced visibility for drivers mean pedestrians should take extra care, use sidewalks, cross only at pedestrian crossings and wear light-colored, easily visible clothing. They should remain alert when crossing and make sure no vehicles are approaching or that vehicles in all lanes have come to a complete stop before crossing.”
