Stadium facilities
Khankendi City Stadium, which opened in 1956, began undergoing reconstruction in 2023 after the city was liberated from Armenian occupation. The stadium’s grounds were expanded to 3.39 hectares, and the venue was upgraded to meet UEFA Category 3 standards.
The stadium has a total of 8,554 seats: 8,214 standard seats, 251 for special guests, 59 for media representatives and 30 for people with disabilities.
The 105-by-68-metre football pitch has artificial turf. The athletics area surrounding it includes a 100-metre track, tracks for distances from 200 to 10,000 metres, facilities for steeplechase and a long-jump area.
The venue includes rooms for players, technical staff, referees, coaches and media representatives, as well as a conference hall and a medical centre. Azerbaijan has hosted the FIFA U-15 World Cup and festival for boys for the first time. Next year, the country will host the FIFA U-20 World Cup for men.
