The Main State Traffic Police Department has urged drivers planning weekend trips not to travel in faulty vehicles.
The department provided the information to “Operative Information Center-OMM”, which reports it.
It said rainy and foggy weather typical of the season is currently affecting Azerbaijan and directly influencing road safety.
Fog or drizzle at night and in the morning significantly reduces visibility on roads, the department said.
“Taking into account that traffic on highways is expected to increase on Saturday and Sunday compared with other days, the Main State Traffic Police Department advises drivers, particularly those setting out on trips, to exercise greater caution in adverse weather, keep their speed appropriate to road conditions, avoid travelling in faulty vehicles, and strictly follow safety rules when stopping, parking, overtaking and manoeuvring,” the statement said.
