Azerbaijan is expected to have 2.2 million learners in the 2026/2027 academic year.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Education Minister Emin Amrullayev made the announcement at a news conference on the new academic year.
According to him, 124,000 pupils will start first grade in the current academic year.
The minister added that 11 new preschool education institutions and four new general education institutions will operate in the liberated areas during the new academic year.
Amrullayev said that more than 7 million textbooks had been printed and delivered to schools before the start of the new academic year.
The expansion of educational infrastructure in the liberated areas is part of Azerbaijan’s broader efforts to restore public services and support the return of residents. New preschool and general education facilities are intended to meet the needs of families settling in the region.
