The Milli Majlis (National Assembly) has passed in its first reading a bill allowing some foreign nationals and stateless persons to receive long-term permits for temporary residence.
The draft amendments to the Migration Code were discussed at today’s plenary session of parliament, Operative Information Center-OMM reports.
The bill also proposes expanding the categories of people who are not required to obtain a work permit.
It would add residents of agro-parks — or, where the resident is a legal entity, its head and deputies — as well as agronomists, horticulture specialists and veterinarians with relevant experience who are hired by the resident to work in Azerbaijan.
The permits would be available from January 1, 2027, through January 1, 2032.
After debate, parliament put the bill to a vote and passed it in its first reading.
