Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed interest in deepening security and defense industry cooperation with Azerbaijan. Speaking during a joint press statement with President Ilham Aliyev, the Ukrainian leader emphasized the potential for a strategic partnership between the two nations in the defense sector, noting that both sides must work diligently to achieve these objectives.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Ukrainian President highlighted previous diplomatic efforts, including trilateral discussions held in Turkey and meetings with partners in Geneva. "Regarding the defense industry, security is an area where we can establish very deep cooperation. We must work hard to achieve this goal," Zelenskyy stated. He further noted that if Russia opts for a diplomatic path, Ukraine would be interested in conducting such negotiations in Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan and Ukraine have long maintained a relationship based on mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity. In recent years, the two countries have explored various avenues for economic and energy cooperation, with the defense industry emerging as a key area of mutual interest. Azerbaijan's growing role as a regional diplomatic hub has previously been demonstrated through its hosting of high-level international meetings in Baku, reinforcing its position as a reliable platform for global dialogue and conflict resolution.
