FBI officers raided a California home in connection with an investigation into former US Congressman Eric Swalwell, US media reported, according to the BBC.
Swalwell, 45, left California’s gubernatorial race earlier this year and gave up his seat in the House of Representatives after allegations of sexual misconduct during his time in office emerged.
In August, the FBI stopped the former Democratic lawmaker at an airport, seized his electronic devices and searched his Washington, DC, home as part of the investigation into the allegations.
Swalwell has denied wrongdoing. His attorney, Sara Azari, previously called the accusations “false, fabricated, and deeply offensive” and described them as “a calculated and transparent political hit job”.
Multiple women have made allegations against Swalwell, including that he raped one woman while she was too intoxicated to respond and sent women unsolicited nude photographs.
The BBC said it had contacted Swalwell’s lawyer and the Department of Justice for comment.
