Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has expressed readiness to hold peace negotiations in Azerbaijan, provided the Russian side agrees to the proposal.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Ukrainian leader made this statement following a meeting with President Ilham Aliyev in Gabala.
"We informed the President of Azerbaijan that we are ready for trilateral negotiations. Such talks have previously taken place in Türkiye. Later, negotiations were held in Switzerland with the participation of American partners. Naturally, we are ready for such talks to be held in Azerbaijan in the near future, provided that Russia is ready for diplomacy," Zelenskyy stated.
Azerbaijan has consistently maintained a balanced foreign policy regarding the Russia-Ukraine conflict, providing significant humanitarian aid to Ukraine while maintaining diplomatic dialogue with Moscow. The country has previously served as a neutral venue for high-level international meetings, including discussions between top military officials from the United States and Russia. Baku's strategic location and its active role in regional diplomacy make it a significant candidate for hosting potential peace summits aimed at resolving the ongoing crisis.
