Azerbaijan's Defense Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov and Georgia's Defense Minister Irakli Chikovani have held a telephone conversation initiated by the Georgian side to discuss bilateral military ties and regional stability.

According to the Ministry of Defense, Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the ministers conducted a comprehensive exchange of views regarding the current situation in the region and various security challenges. During the conversation, the sides emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the South Caucasus while exploring new avenues for developing bilateral military cooperation between the two neighboring nations.

Military relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia are characterized by a high level of strategic partnership, often involving joint exercises and trilateral cooperation formats with Turkiye. These interactions are aimed at ensuring the security of regional energy and transport projects, which are vital for the economic connectivity of the Eurasian corridor. The defense ministries of both countries regularly engage in high-level dialogues to coordinate efforts in defense education, military-technical cooperation, and regional peace-building initiatives.
