Real TV staff were attacked on October 29 while filming at Secondary School No. 225 in Baku’s Yasamal district in connection with a student’s death. The school’s security guard encouraged students to attack them.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Real TV correspondent Nigar Namiq wrote about the incident on her Facebook account:
“Our colleague was kicked by unidentified people and suffered injuries to the head and face. I deeply regret that we encountered such a situation while carrying out our duties and filming within ethical boundaries, especially given the sensitivity of the issue. The man in the picture provoked several people, including the boy in the red jacket, and helped create the conditions for us to be attacked. Suddenly, I saw our colleague being kicked and trampled.
I was unable to pull them apart. All I could do was keep my composure and call 102. At the same time, neither school staff nor parents intervened, and neither did the journalists. Police detained those involved in the incident,” the journalist said.
