The US House of Representatives has rejected a resolution introduced by Democrats seeking the impeachment of US President Donald Trump.
"Operative Information Center-OMM" reported, citing The Hill.
During the vote, 232 congressmen opposed the resolution, while 147 voted in favor.
The impeachment initiative was introduced by Democratic Congressman Al Green.
He accused Trump of using excessively harsh methods in the fight against illegal immigration.
According to the congressman, several civilians died as a result of this policy earlier this year.
Some Democratic congressmen, as well as Republicans, opposed the resolution during the vote.
In the United States, impeachment resolutions are considered by Congress and require support in the House before any further proceedings can take place in the Senate. The House vote therefore blocked the initiative at this stage.
