The US authorities have granted entry visas to members of Iran’s delegation, including President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, to attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing NBC News.

However, certain restrictions will be imposed on members of the Iranian delegation.

A State Department representative said that, in accordance with the obligations of the host country, Iran’s core delegation would be able to attend the high-level week of the UN General Assembly. However, travel restrictions would apply, and under US policy, they would be prohibited from purchasing luxury goods and other merchandise.

Meanwhile, according to sources, the US administration has again rejected Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ visa application to attend the General Assembly because of sanctions imposed on the Palestinian delegation.

The UN General Assembly’s high-level week brings together world leaders and senior officials to discuss major international political, security and humanitarian issues. The United States, as the host country of the UN headquarters in New York, processes visa requests for visiting official delegations under applicable international obligations and domestic regulations.
