U.S. President Donald Trump said he is considering the possibility of establishing a U.S. military base in Poland.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that foreign media outlets have published the information.
Responding to journalists’ questions, Trump said the matter was under consideration:
“We are considering it. We have great respect for the president of Poland. So we are looking into it, and it could happen.”
Asked why a decision had not yet been made, the U.S. leader did not rule out the possibility that one had already been taken.
Poland’s Ministry of National Defense had previously said a decision on establishing a permanent U.S. military base in the country was expected by the end of 2026.
At the end of August, Polish Deputy Minister of National Defense Pavel Zalewski held talks with Elbridge Colby, the deputy head of the Pentagon. One of the main topics was the deployment of permanent U.S. military bases in Poland.
Poland’s Ministry of National Defense had earlier said Warsaw was interested in hosting permanent U.S. military bases and had proposed several possible locations.
