Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni has spoken again about the incident involving teammate Federico Valverde in May. The French footballer said they did not fight, but acknowledged that an unpleasant incident took place in the dressing room.
“People talk a lot about it, but there was no fight between Valverde and me. Different things happen in the dressing room, including arguments, but I have never fought with him. It is true that an unpleasant incident happened,” Tchouameni said on “The Bridge.”
The incident occurred in May, after several tense episodes during training. Valverde sustained a head injury in the altercation. Real Madrid fined both players 500,000 euros.
Tchouameni said the incident drew widespread attention because both players play for the Madrid club. He said many people he knew called him, concerned about what had happened, and he had to reassure them.
“If you came into the dressing room today, you would see that Valverde and I have a good relationship and that there are no problems between us,” the midfielder added.
