Atletico Madrid has commented on Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde’s return to full team training after an injury. The Uruguay international has been included in the squad for the match against Villarreal on October 9.
The 28-year-old Valverde was diagnosed with a Grade 3 sprain of the ligaments in his left ankle after the 2-1 match against Atletico in La Liga’s seventh round.
Recovery from such injuries is usually reported to take between six weeks and three months. Valverde, however, returned to training after 18 days and was named in the squad for the Villarreal match.
Atletico’s media office wrote on social media platform X: “We would like to congratulate Real Madrid for continuing to make history by proving that 100% of the world’s medical community was wrong.”
