A Saudi-led coalition said early Tuesday that its air defenses intercepted and destroyed three ballistic missiles launched by Yemen’s Houthi group toward Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province, Anadolu Agency reported.

The coalition did not identify the intended targets or provide details about possible casualties or damage.

On Monday, the coalition said it had intercepted and destroyed three drones over the Riyadh region and southern Saudi Arabia. It did not identify the drones’ origin or intended targets.

The coalition also announced strikes on Houthi positions in Yemen, saying it had destroyed ballistic missile launchers, storage tunnels and a missile depot.

Coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki said the operations aimed to dismantle the group’s ballistic missile network and disrupt its supply routes.

The latest developments came amid an escalation between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis that has been ongoing since July, alongside renewed fighting between the group and Yemen’s internationally recognized government.

Saudi Arabia has led a military coalition supporting Yemen’s government against the Houthis since March 2015. The group has controlled the capital, Sanaa, and other parts of Yemen since September 2014.
