Sabah have matched a record in Azerbaijan’s football league history, conceding just one goal in their first eight matches of the Misli Premier League season.
The team have conceded an average of 0.125 goals per match. According to the Professional Football League, conceding only one goal in the first eight matches of the national championship, which has been held since 1992, has now happened for the fifth time.
This is the first time in the past 10 seasons that a team has achieved the feat. The last club to concede just one goal in its first eight league matches was Gabala, in the 2016/17 season.
Neftchi first set the record in the 2001/02 season. Six years later, AZAL matched it, followed nine years later by Khazar Lankaran. Sabah have now equalled their record.
