At least 83 people were injured when a passenger bus plunged down a 20-meter embankment in Spain’s northeastern Barcelona province, local authorities said on Monday, according to Anadolu Agency.
The accident happened on Sunday in Fogars de Montclus. The bus veered off a narrow, winding road and fell down a steep slope; the cause is under investigation, public broadcaster “RTVE” reported.
Catalonia’s Health Minister Olga Pane said 58 people suffered minor injuries, 18 were moderately injured and seven were seriously hurt.
No fatalities had been reported. However, officials said they could not rule out further casualties because of the difficult terrain around the crash site.
The bus was running a shuttle service between Montseny Natural Park and Fogars de Montclus, stopping at several points to pick up passengers.
