Former Qarabag FK and Azerbaijan national team midfielder Richard Almeida has hinted that he has returned to Azerbaijan in a social media post. The 37-year-old footballer shared a message in Portuguese alongside the Azerbaijani flag in an Instagram story.
“A good son returns home. To meet good friends again, stop missing them, and remember the wonderful moments when we were always happy...” Almeida wrote.
Almeida’s career
Almeida’s current whereabouts and the purpose of his visit have not been disclosed. He left Qarabag FK in February 2025 and continued his career in Brazil. In March 2026, he moved from Primavera to XV Piracicaba. In September, Almeida said he had undergone surgery after suffering a knee ligament injury.
The midfielder made 376 appearances for Qarabag FK, scoring 64 goals. He won the Azerbaijan league title nine times and the national cup five times. Almeida also made 31 appearances for Azerbaijan’s national team, scoring three goals.
