The names of two municipalities in Quba and the settlements they cover have been changed.
“Operative Information Center-OMM” reports that President Ilham Aliyev has signed a law amending the appendix to the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On the territories and lands of municipalities,” titled “List of municipalities in the Republic of Azerbaijan.”
Under the document, the Timiryazev-Alekseyevka municipality will be renamed the Bəhrəli-Chinarlı municipality. The Vladimirovka municipality will be renamed the Elbir municipality. The corresponding territorial units covered by those municipalities will also receive the new names.
On May 12 this year, the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) adopted a law renaming several territorial units in Quba district. Under the law, the village of Alekseyevka, within the Alekseyevka village administrative territorial district, was renamed Çinarlı, while Timiryazev village was renamed Bəhrəli. The Alekseyevka village administrative territorial district was also renamed the Çinarlı village administrative territorial district.
